Keynote: The CSU's Affordable Learning Solutions

Brett ChristieBrett Christie has presented at a number of CATS conferences. An Education faculty member at SSU, Brett is currently working for CSU's Academic Technology Services (ATS), focusing on the Affordable Learning Solutions initiative (ALS). ALS was launched in 2010 to significantly reduce the cost of course materials for CSU students. In addition to reducing these costs, newer technologies and formats are providing transformative possibilities for supporting teaching and learning. Given the changes afoot, the CSU is at an exciting crossroads to significantly change the way teaching and learning takes place, positively affecting both cost and quality. This session will provide an overview of ALS and the resources and support available, while moving to a focus on success stories, growing potential, and ways the CATS community is becoming increasingly essential.
