The CATS Distinguished Service Award (DSC) goes to CATS who have made a difference to the community as a whole. At the close of the nomination period, nominees must be at least a half-time CSU employee and have been actively employed in the system within the past calendar year. More than one CATS member may receive the award.
Eligible nominees have been active in the CATS community in a variety of ways, such as
- served on one or more CATS Conference planning teams
- presented at CATS conferences and/or online or regional meetings
- participated on TIGERS grant project
- active Community of Practice membership
- served on past Executive Council (current year EC members excluded)
- participated on listserv
- provided support for CATS on other campuses
Only CATS members may make nominations.
Nominations should detail the nominee's noteworthy contributions to the CATS community. What was the impact on CATS' productivity, communication, or collaboration? What was the reach of impact on the community? Did the nominee's contributions have a positive impact for other CATS or faculty at his/her campus and/or other campuses?
One to three support letter sfrom other CATS members is required and should be faxed to 707.664.4350. A letter from the nominee’s supervisor is strongly encouraged.
Selection Process
A rubric is used to assess each individual nomination. Points are given against many aspects that constitute a strong nomination. We encourage you to review the rubric and encourage you to print it out/refer to it as you prepare to write.
Deadline
Nominations for the DSA must be received by Friday, December 15, 2006. Support letters are due on that date as well.

- Instructional Design
- Training
- Reorganization/organization of services (e.g., Help Desk, Faculty Training Center)
- Website Development
- Programming
- Media Production
- Library
Eligibility Requirements (copy)
- At the close of the nomination period, the nominee must be at least
a half-time CSU campus employee and has been continuously employed for
a 12-month period.
- A letter of support from the nominee's supervisor is mandatory.
- Two other letters of support are also required. These may be
written by fellow staff, administrators, or faculty who have been
involved with or who have benefitted by the nominee's work. These
letters should speak directly to the specific work done by the nominee.
All letters must be sent to Abbe Altman by Friday, June 23, 2006.
You may nominate yourself or another staff member.
Incomplete nominations will not be considered.
