Instructional Design BoF

Instructional designers and developers gathered to discuss strategies, expertise, and resources to help them better support faculty in delivering instruction. For example, at the June 1st meeting, there was a presentation and lively discussion about using QR codes to provide access to instructional materials (e.g., documents, videos, audio). Joan Van Duzer (Humboldt), an instructional design veteran, was the Facilitator.

March 2, 2012	Attendees shared what their campuses are doing to train faculty in online course development, and what incentives are in play.
April 6, 2012	Humboldt State surveyed iPad-using faculty for app recommendations.
June 1, 2012	Carole Robinson presented on using QR codes to deliver instructional materials (e.g., text, audio, video).
June 6, 2012	This session focused on authoring tools. Tools mentioned included Camtasia, Captivate, Pachyderm, Course Builder, Softchalk, Jing, and Articulate Studio.
