OER BoF

With the cost of education climbing, it's imperative that the CSU help students access free and low-cost instructional materials. Open Educational Resources (OER) is part of the system's Affordable Learning Solutions (AL$) initiative, and many camouses are actively helping faculty find and use such resources. Brett Christie, an SSU faculty member / faculty developer, currently focuses on OER and AL$ for the Chancellor's Office and facilitated this BoF.

January 27, 2012	The group came to a common understanding of OER. Resources were shared, including ELI's "7 Things You Should Know about OER."
February 24, 2012	There was discussion about helping faculty learn about and incorporate OER materials.
March 23, 2012	Resources on the AL$ website and campus websites were highlighted.
May 25, 2012	SJSU talked about how it's looking for and working with partners to spread the AL$ word. Brett shared statistics from the Pew Internet Report on eReading.
June 22, 2012	Attendees learned about new tools and resources available on the AL$ site: http://als.csuprojects.org
