CATS Conferences

CATS conferences focus on the major themes, issues, topics, and technological and educational advances influencing the direction of academic technology. The conference is "for the staff and by the staff," with CATS members actively encouraged to present and conduct workshops, facilitate panel discussions, and to work collaboratively in planning and developing the conference program.

Conference goals include providing useful information and training about current and emerging technologies, and sharing strategies to support faculty use of technology. Another important goal is to provide networking opportunities, enabling peers at different campuses and institutions to solve problems they all face.

No CATS conference could succeed without the collaboration of a group of volunteer community members who take charge of planning each conference, from developing the program and schedule to creating graphics to coordinating session facilitation. Read about the different

Technology Integration Grants for Educational ResourceSharing (TIGERS)

Initiated in 1999, TIGERS grants are awarded to CSU academic technology staff for the purpose of creating technical tools and other instructional support resources that can be shared throughout the CSU system to increase the use of technology in the learning and teaching process. Each year specific proposal initiatives are suggested.

Workshops

Regional Workshops

Periodically, CATS sponsors regional one-day meetings that range from information sharing to hands-on training. In 2004/2005, two meetings were scheduled:

Previous meetings have covered topics such as Copyright, Intellectual Property and Policies; Web Accessibility; Heuristic Design Evaluation; Hiring and Retention of Student Assistants.

Online Workshops

Regular live online workshops are presented by CATS members. These sessions, many of which are archived, utilize HorizonLive! technology and are intended to extend the conference experience with workshops and presentations that meet the needs of the community. Check this web page periodically to see the workshops that have been added. If you have suggestions for future topics, please contact CATS.

HorizonLive! is easy to use. Log on as a student using your name and you're all set. For those of you new to HorizonLive!, we recommend running the "Wizard" before accessing a session.
